another odd point.
Why do people always think of a "White" Christmas? It's not as if most places get snow. Perhaps it's the Hallmark economy showing the christmas trees, eggnog, snowmen, and etc but it seems to me that Christmas is different for everyone. Why does it have to be "White"? Most people don't have snow-filled holidays and are somehow left out of the "true Christmas" just because they don't have snow? I think it would be nice to have a Christmas tv show that would show us how other people celebrate the holidays. I, for one, would rather have a warm Christmas... like the Aussies do. Woody Allen seems to spend it in Paris.... where it does snow. But nonetheless a French Christmas probably doesn't include the tree bit. It's amazing what watching too much tv does to you. I saw parts of "How the American Christmas came to be" and you know the trees are a new thing? I think it's a Scandinavian Tradition. So, what about other traditions, why do we never see how Carribean Africans celibrate their Christmas? And New Zealand, Britain, Argentina, Cuba?
Ok, nix the Cuba, could never get a camera crew there...
But really. When you're putting/taking the presents from under the tree, ask yourself two things: 1)How do other people celebrate Christmas? 2)What do parents tell their kids when the family has no fireplace? And since it is Christmas, I will give you the gift of another question! Why do films always portray Christmas in New York as the Hallmark Image? (Other than, the "it's a wonderful world" theory) I mean, from what I understand, a large percentage of the people there aren't even Christian! So I leave myself puzzled. Eh. Oh well.
